Do you know about - Three Reasons Why Baby Squirrels Die in Captivity

Adopt A Puppy! Again, for I know. Ready to share new things that are useful. You and your friends.

Did you ever take in a baby squirrel and start to feed and care for it, then have it go downhill physically and die? You're not alone! The following are three coarse reasons why baby squirrels die in captivity:

What I said. It is not outcome that the real about Adopt A Puppy. You look at this article for facts about that need to know is Adopt A Puppy.

How is Three Reasons Why Baby Squirrels Die in Captivity

We had a good read. For the benefit of yourself. Be sure to read to the end. I want you to get good knowledge from Adopt A Puppy.

1. The Wrong Diet.

Improper diet is the number one hypothesize why squirrels die. There's a lot of controversy over what is the spoton method to feed baby squirrels who are still nursing. Many wild animal rehabilitators will tell you to buy an expensive puppy formula, and to never feed a squirrel cow's milk. I've used the expensive puppy method with marginal success, but recently they changed the formulation which left it lacking enough milk fat for squirrels. Now, all of a sudden, they're telling habitancy to add heavy cream to boost the fat content! Hello! What is heavy cream? It's the cream from cow's milk! The hypothesize cow's milk will kill a baby squirrel is because there are substances in the milk that will give a squirrel severe diarrhea. Diarrhea will lead to an electrolyte imbalance, which will lead to a heart irregularity and finally death from sudden cardiac arrest.

I've found that if you get rid of the substance in cow's milk and cream that causes diarrhea, a baby squirrel will do just fine on a cream rich cows milk formula. But you must do one uncomplicated but vital thing to make this method safe for squirrels! I can teach you how to make this method and save you having to spend twenty dollars per can for puppy formula!

2. Hypocalcemia.

The second big killer of squirrels is Hypocalcemia. That's a fancy name for low blood Calcium. Squirrels, especially in captivity, have an extraordinarily high calcium requirement. Death from low blood calcium comes after they stop nursing. While they are getting milk, their calcium needs are being met. When they quit nursing, they need a calcium supplement or they'll produce what is called Metabolic Bone Disease. This disease is characterized by loss of calcium from the bones, especially in the spine and back legs. They start to shuffle their back legs when they walk, and progressively lose nerve and muscle control. Their bones come to be fragile and break easily.

Low blood calcium can also lead to heart irregularity and sudden cardiac death. A squirrel with metabolic Bone Disease is a pathetic scene! stoppage is simple! I teach a very uncomplicated way to make a dietary supplement called Nut Squares or Nut Balls that will insure optimum calcium intake and good condition for squirrels.

3. Internal Injuries.

The last major killer of baby squirrels is internal injuries. Many times a found squirrel has fallen a great distance out of a leaf nest. One of the first things you should do for a baby squirrel, after you get it in a warm environment, is to check it over determined for injuries. Babies normally have rapid respiration and heartbeats, but if a baby squirrel is having difficulty breathing or is using more than just chest muscles to breathe, it may have internal injuries. It could have broken ribs or a contused lung or heart! Blunt trauma to the abdomen can injure internal organs such as the liver, kidneys or spleen. A baby squirrel's abdominal wall is very thin. If you see dark purple discoloration of the abdomen, that is an ominous sign that indicates internal bleeding.

There's not a whole lot that can be done for a baby squirrel that is in that condition. A Veterinarian could value the animal, but chances are, nothing would be done other than gawk and keep it's breathing struggle with oxygen and a warm environment until it passes. I've found in my years as a Squirrel Rehabilitator that squirrels love to have their head and neck gradually rubbed, it's very soothing and calming for them. Death is a part of life. For me, keeping and comforting a dying squirrel helps me realize how precious and brief life is. I find colossal joy and satisfaction in caring for these magnificent creatures, and thank God that even in death, I can make a difference!

How about pay an adoption fee and ADOPT! Remember, every animal you adopt is "one less" that will get euthanized. Please support your local no-kill shelters. What You Need to Know About Rottweiler Mixes

#1. What You Need to Know About Rottweiler Mixes

What You Need to Know About Rottweiler Mixes

Rottweilers like to mix it up in many kinds of ways, which is one calculate why there are so many Rottweiler mixed breed dogs in the world today. The cross most on it's way to becoming its own breed is the Rotterman (Rottweiler and Doberman Pinscher). Rottweilers also seem to cross often with German Shepherds, although there isn't a cute name for that cross yet. Mixed breed dogs are generally healthier than purebreds, but they still will need to go to the vet annually.

What You Need to Know About Rottweiler Mixes

One cross that does have a cute name and a loyal following is the St. Weiler (that's right - a Rottweiler and Saint Bernard). Since these are massive dogs, they need a lot of room, a lot of food and a lot of care. Big dogs are prone to a lot of structural problems that is due to their size and not due to their breed. Although not giants like Irish Wolfhounds, they are normally over one hundred pounds and rarely live beyond ten years of age (giant size dogs live only six years, on average.) The average length of a purebred Rottweiler's life is 1twelve.

And the Rottweiler mixed breeds recognized by the American Canine Hybrid Club keep on coming. A cross between an Afghan Hound and a Rottweiler is a Rottaf. A cross between a Rottweiler and an English Bulldog is an English Bullweiler. And a cross between a Brussells Griffon and a Rottweiler is (are you ready) a Brotweiler. Less comically and more practically, a cross between a Labrador Retriever and a Rottweiler is called a Labrottie and is hoped to calm the Rottweiler down, while still retaining both breed's love of their families.

You can't show these dogs in a big show like Westminster, but Rottweiler mixed breeds can make excellent companions and friends. You do need to know the traits of both breeds involved in the mix before you go adopt or buy one. You need to learn as much Rottweiler data as you can as well as much data on the other breed. The odds are, any Rottweiler mix will be a high-energy dog that is protective and wary of strangers.

The time to come looks good for a Rottweiler mix, as the breeding of them seems to be more involved with production a healthy, happy family companion. The good traits of being a guard dog and diplomatic with kids seems to be crossing (for the most part) to the designer dog offspring. Any big dog needs a lot of space and a lot of food. Be ready to clean up a lot of messes as well.

Large, active dogs often do not know their own vigor and may accidentally hurt you. Rottweiler mixes seem to be more exuberant and high on life than mean or vicious. Any large dog needs a wholesome diet and regular practice to help curb the energy. They also assuredly should be neutered, as this will not only make them healthier, but more eager to pay attentiveness to your wishes. Rottweiler mixes are often incredibly gorgeous dogs with big feet.

The content is nice quality and helpful content, Which is new is that you never knew before that I do know is that I actually have discovered. Before the distinctive. It is now near to enter destination Bringing Home a Second Dog. And the content associated with Adopt Puppies.

Do you know about - Bringing Home a Second Dog

Adopt Puppies! Again, for I know. Ready to share new things that are useful. You and your friends.

Bringing a second dog home requires a lot of thought. It means a faultless turn in your "normal" family routine. It matters not whether the new dog is a puppy or an adult.

What I said. It is not outcome that the real about Adopt Puppies. You check out this article for information on a person want to know is Adopt Puppies.

How is Bringing Home a Second Dog

We had a good read. For the benefit of yourself. Be sure to read to the end. I want you to get good knowledge from Adopt Puppies.

There are many things to think before you bring the new pet home.

It is not just a matter of bringing the new dog home and you all will live happily ever after (though that can be a remote possibility.)

You need to take time to think this new undertaking straight through and mull over these questions:

Read these questions a few times and acknowledge them truthfully. Being right will help eliminate you manufacture a mistake.

Some dogs positively don't want a "companion," they are as happy as a clam being the "only dog."

The real query here is "is it you that wants a new dog?"

Once you have made up your mind and truly feel that an additional one dog will be an added benefit to your household. There are a few more things to think such as: puppy, young adult or an older dog. That will depend on your resident dog.

Puppies are probably easier to introduce to your current dog, as a puppy doesn't appear as an intruder, only as a pest.

If you decide on a puppy, please keep this in mind. Puppies do not realize they are supposed to behave in a definite way until they are about 4 months old.

Until they are old adequate to know all this "dog stuff," it will be up to you to protect the puppy from the older dog and protect the older dog from the puppy.

The puppy will drive the older dog crazy at times. Puppies want to play; older dogs will play for a tiny while then want to stop.

It is up to you to give your older pet, free time away from "fluff and stuff."

Do not under any circumstances leave the puppy and older dog alone without supervision.

Always put the puppy in its crate or put your resident dog in a safe room if you are leaving the house or cannot supervise.

The older dog could unintentionally injure the puppy, if the puppy pesters the older dog too much.

Adding a young adult dog or an older dog to your household requires a lot more tact along with patience and planning. You are going to need help with this one.

Step whole one; the dogs will have to meet on neutral ground. To do this you will need help of a friend or a relative (not a member of your household.)

The dogs need to meet in a place your dog has never been, that will be the neutral territory. It can be a park, a neighbor's yard, or if all else fails a parking lot.

Both dogs need to be on a leash and introduced casually. Allow them to do all the "doggy things," such as smelling each other, their stance may be rigid, but for the first meeting that is okay. However, if you hear growling or see lip curling, calmly move them apart.

Remain calm and do not be nervous, talk to the dogs in a "happy voice."

After a few minutes try to introduce them again, but do not let them get too close together.

If the growling and lip curling happens again it is a good bet that these two will not ever be friends.

Whatever you do, do not try to force a friendship. You will only be looking for a great deal of issue when you get them home.

Dogs will fight and if they do not like each other, it can be disastrous for you and the dogs.

In looking for a new dog (not a puppy) try to find a dog whose personality matches that of your dog. If your dog is outgoing and friendly, find one that is equally so. If your dog is quiet and gentle, do not bring home a dog that is very active and playful, the match more than likely will not work.

Female dogs that have been the only dog in the house seem to have a harder time adjusting to a new "friend."

Dogs that have been socialized and get along well with other dogs have an easier time relating to a new dog in the household.

One of the first rules in raising a puppy is "socialize, socialize and socialize" some more. If you have followed that rule, adding a new dog should be easier.

Once the introductions have been made and it is time to bring the two dogs home a good recommendation is "do not bring them home together" in the same car. Let the someone who helped you with the introduction bring the new dog home.

It is a recommend procedure that when you have both dogs at home you keep their leashes on them. It will be easier for you to keep control if you need to by having a leash to grab on to.

If the new dog is close in age to your resident dog there is bound to be a bit of aggression going on.

You now have a "pack," it will be necessary for the two dogs to decide which one is going to be second in fee (you are the real leader) and this decision may take some haggling.

Acceptable aggressive behavior should last for a few seconds (10 --20 seconds) and may consist of some growling, lip curling, snarling, snapping and maybe pinning one of the dogs down by the neck.

Unacceptable aggressive behavior would be biting to draw blood or any of the above behaviors that last more than a few seconds.

One of the dogs may exhibit submissive behavior and this is to be imaginable also. Barking like a puppy, rolling over on its back, tail between its legs, running away from the other dog are all appropriate submissive behaviors.

It may take the dogs a week or two to decide on who is the leader and while that is going on Do Not let them alone together unsupervised.

Put the dogs in cut off areas or in their crates, do not let them be together until you are definite they have placed their ranking and will get along.

The hardest thing for you will be following their decision especially if your first dog is no longer the "number one."

The leading thing here is that you abide by their decision no matter how hard it will be for you.

The whole one dog gets the first treats, is first out the door, is first to be fed and so on.

Speaking of feeding, give each dog their own bowls and their own eating spot, do not let one steal food from the other.

Expect your first dog to go straight through some stress and probably some misbehavior patterns as this new addition will be upsetting to it and the dog will need to adjust.

It is up to you to expect these problems and act accordingly. Remember your dog did not ask for a new friend. It was your idea. As the old saying goes "you made your bed now lie in it."

It may take a month or more for a habit to build and peace to rein supreme once again in your household. If you keep the dogs apart when you are not home to supervise and you make the time they spend together "fun" they will soon become friends, maybe not "best friends," but close adequate to enjoy being together.

Do not forget that you are the Leader, the boss supreme, and you run the show, and both dogs need to ensue your orders first.

Do not beat, hit or otherwise use force to make a point, be patient, stern if necessary and most of all Consistent in what you are asking of the dogs.

One last point: practice is the private to retention your dogs too tired to argue with each other. practice relieves their stress (and maybe yours. Too) and tired dogs behave better.

Good luck and remember to have Fun.

Siberian Husky Rescue - Mopar's Story Video Clips. Duration : 3.60 Mins.

We had a good read. For the benefit of yourself. Be sure to read to the end. I want you to get good knowledge from Adopt Puppy. UPDATE: Mopar has a new video! www.youtube.com - Like Mopar the Husky: www.facebook.com - Add Mopar to Facebook: www.facebook.com _______________________________________________________________ This is Mopar's story. His owner lived one street down from me. He kept Mopar in a fenced in area smaller than an average bedroom - it was evident that his area was almost never cleaned and covered in feces. Animal Control picked Mopar up after Mopar was hanging around my house for a few weeks. After he didn't come back and the owner didn't get him, Mopar was to be put down because he failed two tests needed for being able to adopt. After adopting him, he had to be neutered, according to Alabama state law. He was in very bad shape and had to be closely monitored for two weeks. Now Mopar is becoming trained and is very loved and happy. I hope this encourages people to pay for a rescue to save an animal rather than 0 for a puppy that isn't in jeopardy of being killed. This is also my first YouTube video. Please let me know what you think. xx Update Dec 2011: Thank you everyone for all of the comments, views, and likes! Just a few days ago, I only have 662 views... in 4 days, I was up to 2700+ views. :) I've got a camcorder now and am hoping to get some actual videos of Mopar doing his thing for everyone to enjoy. He's got quite the personality. To everyone I do not comment/reply back to - please don't be offended. Your comments ARE read and appreciated! I can't respond to them ...
